This is an equestrian camp with a group camping area nearby. Mesas and mountains of rock surround the campground. Mojave yucca, pencil cholla and creosote grow here in an open and windy environment. The tables and stone fire pits are fairly new. There are bear proof garbage containers.

South of Rainbow Wells, on Kelso Cima Road, turn east into the Preserve and follow the Mojave National Preserve Road about 12.5 miles. The last leg of the trip is along Black Canyon Road.
