Palmetto Island State Park
Notes about Palmetto Island State Park
Fire rings at each site. Sites are well spaced, private and well shaded. Site tables on concrete pads with lantern hook. Palmettos create a lush settting. Sites are large. Some sites are paved for wheelchairs. There are a couple of large ponds with fish and alligators, with gravel parking lots for day use. The walk-in sites are situated around one of the ponds, and are very sheltered by lush forest. This park is teeming with life. There are poisonous snakes and fire ants, so watch where you step. Canoe rentals.
Directions
Approxiamtely 9.5 miles south of Abbeville on Highway 82 then southeast on Highway 333.
