Jasper, Alberta

Jasper National Park, in which the town of Jasper is situated, pretty much dominates the town's activities, buildings and support services and it's sometimes important to clarify if Jasper refers to town or park. The park is famous for its ski/snowboard hills, mountain vistas, Columbia Icefield tours, Miette Hot Springs, frozen lake tours, numerous lodges, ranging from woodsy to very sophisticated. Summer pleasures abound as well, with numerous hiking, camping and lake-related opportunities, including Spirit Island Tours, boating, fishing, and swimming for the stout-at-heart. Jasper town has an outdoor park with spaces for baseball, soccer or rugby, picnicking and a log cabin services centre. There are many restaurants and shops, good for a day's exploration.
