Sierra Vista, Arizona

The Huachuca Mountains are a draw to this town, offering hiking opportunities into high altitudes, from about 3,900 ft. at the base to over 9,400 ft. at the top of the tallest peak. A hike of this elevation requires some preparation on the part of the hiker but the chance to explore the different levels of animal and plant life, see the views, examine the rock formations and feel the thrill of accomplishment are worth the effort of carrying water and extra clothing with you.

The San Pedro River will give you a hiking opportunity of a different nature as you follow its course in the San Pedro National Riparian Conservation area. These hikes, plus the nearness of the Kartchner Caverns State Park, a very popular tourist attraction, make you glad there are a lot of both primitive and RV parks available.

In addition to the natural beauties, there are a number of historical sites to visit. The town has chain stores and restaurants, as well as an airport with an army base near it.
