The town of Clearwater guards the south entrance to the spectacular Wells Gray Provincial Park, with its renowned scenery, consisting of waterfalls, canyons, volcanoes, mineral springs and glaciated areas. The park alone is a good reason to visit the town but there is more to see and do, including a game of golf or any among a variety of adventure tours. Local arts and crafts are displayed at the Purple Ox, a store in a garden setting and a farmers' market, featuring a changing collection of vendors each week. You can camp in the park or stay in a motel, hotel, resort, bed and breakfast or guest ranch. Wells Gray Provincial Park is good for many days of exploration, with its most famous waterfall, Helmcken Falls, along with other sights. This particular fall plunges 141 m into a narrow chasm.
