Unserviced camping facilities can be found north of Sidney at the National Park. A number of full service RV parks can be found further south.

Sidney's ideal location - near to Victoria International Airport and a few km away from Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal, and with a major highway bisecting it - affords opportunities for further Vancouver Island exploration or easy commutes. Or you can stay there and visit the famous Butchart Gardens, a must-see at any season. In 2007 the Gardens celebrated 100 years and expected its 50,000,000th visitor. Golf courses are also a natural recreational outlet and the selection is extensive. Although often regarded as a suburb of Victoria, Sidney has its own solid reputation for attractions, among them the 9 or so bookstores within a 4-block radius in the downtown area. This proliferation has resulted in the moniker Booktown. The proximity of the Pacific, its rhythms and its islands, have resulted in Sidney's designation as Sidney-by-the-Sea, beautifully commemorated on their entrance sign.
