Campgrounds and RV parks can be found right in Mountain Home.
Originally named Rattlesnake Station, Mountain Home began with a post office and a stagecoach stop. An air force base was established in 1943 as a bomber training base and later became a Strategic Air Command bomber and missile base. It is now an Air Combat Command facility.
The current population of Mountain Home is 15,000. The semi arid climate with short, cold winters and hot, dry summers is a boon to golfers. There are at least two golf courses near the city.
