Flin Flon, MB

This small mining city has the typical mining town look of moderately high hills and winding streets. According to a local brochure, the community spirit here is strong and things happen, including a strong community theatre group. The downtown buildings are rather old but have been well-maintained.

Flin Flon has been a mining town since the beginning of its life when a couple of geologists named it after a character in a science fiction book they found near the mining site. The character's name was Flintabbatey Flonatin and the name Flinty and the image given to the character by Al Capp can be spotted here and there in town.

The very pleasant Flin Flon Tourist Bureau campground is well-run by a capable, diligent and friendly staff. The camping season is short and the campground stays quite busy.
