Owatonna, Minnesota

>p>Owatonna's downtown is a sight to see, with its old buildings repainted and their exteriors and upper storys restored. The Firemen's Hall is a beautiful old building with a bell tower, useful in decades past for alerting the town and the firemen to the danger. There are new buildings as well as old, including the Wells Fargo bank whose façade resembles the ever-changing corn palace that is the pride of Mitchell, SD. It is made of red brick and stone with green inlaid tile. The streets are clear of debris and there are hanging flower baskets. Even the Owatonna Power Plant has an outer glamour.

Morehouse Park is a beautiful city park on the Straight River which allows for many day use activities. But if you wish to stay in the area, travel east of the city about 7 miles to Rice Lake State Park which provides serviced (power) and unserviced campsites. Or about 13.5 miles west of Owatonna is Kiesler's Campground and RV Resort, a large 300-site campground with fully-serviced, partially-serviced and unserviced sites. Riverview Campground, another RV campground with full serviced sites only, is a short distance south and west of the city.
