Melrose, Minnesota

Although it is not a large city, Melrose (population 3,061) has many neighborhood, community and open space parks. Among the latter is Sauk River Park which has serviced (power only or power and water) and unserviced campsites, as well as a biking/hiking trail leading from it back into town. These various parks, with their green spaces, benches and quite often, play areas for children, provide a very pleasant feel to the city. Sometimes small cities show a number of Space for Lease signs in their windows in the downtown core, but there are none of those in Melrose. The downtown area is cosy and invites walking.

Birch Lake Campground is part of Birch Lake State Forest and is within 15 miles of Melrose in a northeast direction.
