Deming, NM

Deming is a small city with a large museum and many RV parks in town. These are concentrated on E Pine Street and provide full-service sites near to the local amenities, such as a mall, several restaurants, as well as other services. E Pine Street is a main artery in Deming. The weather permits parks and campgrounds to stay open year round. Most of the in-town parks do not offer spaces for tent campers.

But a little further afield, tent campers will have a choice of campgrounds, including the nearby state parks which are of great interest. There are beautiful unserviced sites among the unusual rocks when you camp at City of Rocks State Park. Here you can also enjoy a dark sky view of the constellations. The sites are named after some of them.

For more exploration and a place to stay, Pancho Villa State Park is not far, but even more promising are Rockhound and City of Rocks. All three provide both semi-serviced sites and unserviced sites. At Rockhound, you can collect and remove rock samples as long as they are small. Get to know what kinds are available at the Visitor Information Center where friendly and informed staff members can help you. In addition, at Rockhound, there are many kinds of wildlife.

A variety of sites, including unserviced sites, are offered at the Faywood Hot Springs Resort north of Deming where you can luxuriate or rough it in beautiful surroundings.
