Elgin, Oregon

Elgin is a charming town of about 1,700 people, set in the midst of two sets of mountains, the Wallowas to the east and the Blues to the west. Its old buildings are being re-purposed and kept in good condition. An example of this is the old Opera House which bears its old sign and its old style, but is now used as the city hall.

A city-sponsored RV park is right in town and provides full hookups, pull-through sites and free showers. Minam State Recreation is about 15 minutes away and is on the Wallowa River. Sites are unserviced. More unserviced sites are at Woodland Campground, north of Elgin, which is a national forest park.
