Beautiful gardens are definitely the thing for many home owners here. It is a small city close to the larger state capital of Salem. In the surrounding countryside there are berry orchards and grape vines stretch to the horizon. It is part of the fertile Willamette Valley which is a prime growing area in Oregon.
Silver Creek is in town and there are some cafes and restaurants that overlook it. The creek originates at Silver Falls and flows into the Pudding River and then into the Willamette River. For a period, the center was called Silver Creek, becoming Silverton in July 1855.
Silver Falls State Park is not far off and offers primitive and partially serviced spaces in a large campground of 97 sites. In addition, there are 3 serviced RV parks.
