There are campgrounds and RV parks in Watson Lake and more a short distance away.
Watson Lake, located on mile 635 of the Alaska Highway is the third-largest Yukon town and is built on a piece of Kaska Dene First Nations-owned land. Known as the Gateway to the Yukon, its attractions include a golf course, swimming pool, tennis courts, trails, parks and a recreation centre. Liard Hot Springs, Canadas second-largest hot springs is a nearby attraction, set in a lush boreal forest. Watson Lake is famous for an often-imitated tourist attraction known as Signpost Forest which was started in 1942 by a lonely G.I. and now boasts over 45,000 signs, all attached to wooden upright posts and displaying a wide variety of place names. Forestry and mining are the main industries, supplemented by tourism, with many travellers exploring the Alaska Highway or embarking on winter adventures, courtesy of such enterprises as Arctic Explorers.
